T-Mobile Reimagined

BE HEARD. YOUR WAY.

Work done while at VMLY&R

T-Mobile is one of leading wireless service providers in the world.

I was brought in to “REIMAGINE” what the mobile homepage experience could be for authenticated and unauthenticated users. What I came away with, was a completely customized user experience tailored to each unique visitor. Because I believe every voice is unique, and every voice should be heard.
NO REAL DATA IS BEING SHOWN.

The Thinking Behind the Design

Humans aren’t all that different. We all want the same things in life — purpose, love, knowledge, inspiration, INCLUSION and EMPOWERMENT.

What does make us different, is OUR VOICE and the UNIQUE MESSAGE we want to share. And just like their customers, T-Mobile also has a message to share.

How do I tell their story, using color, typography, imagery and animation?

The concept was centered around the idea that because everyone has a unique voice and style, we would allow that style to be discovered by taking a Style Quiz. Depending on the answers to the quiz, the user experience would be different for everyone. I came up with six personas that users would fall into, again, depending on their answers. For this case study, I chose to display the Explorer persona.

I began the design process by researching various ways to tell the story. I found an interesting form of communication called “Scrollytelling”. Scrollytelling allows the user to scroll through the site and instead of the screen moving up or down, instead the objects and information animate into view from either the left, right, top or bottom of the screen.

Another element of the user experience was using data to tell it’s own unique story. How are the customers using their devices, and how can T-Mobile better serve the customer based on this data? Below is the Unauthenticated and Authenticated User Flow, Touchpoints, and Wireframes.
